I can tell you the exact moment I knew I wanted to work in technology.
I was working with one of my associates at Saks Fifth Avenue and watching her struggle with the software we required her to use. We were reviewing her on her ability to build relationships with customers, and scoring her performance on metrics created from this application. Her role was in jeopardy, not because she wasn’t good at her job, but because our tools had failed her. This was totally unacceptable.
After that instance, I worked on a task for to redesign that very application, which ended up being built and utilized in all Saks stores, allowing our associates to sell up to 300% more than they had in previous years.
I didn’t know that UX design was a really career path at that time. But once I discovered it, I decided to pursue some formal education, via bootcamp through CareerFoundry.
After spending some time freelancing, I soon took a role at Dick’s Sporting Goods designing and managing products for our store teammates. I love my job and I love the people I work with, but I am always open to hear about new challenges and opportunities on the horizon.
In my free time, I enjoy drinking coffee that’s brewed in pretentious ways, unsuccessfully starting a family band with Will Schneekloth and our daughter Etta, and vacuuming fur and muddy footprints from our golden retriever, Scout.
